It was a successful and fruitful summer at the CTeen network. The American Camp Association® (ACA) announced last week that CTeen Xtreme, CTeen’s travel and extreme sports camp, has received ACA-Accredited® Camp status. ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country. Its nationally-recognized standards program focuses primarily on the program quality, health and safety aspects of a camp's operation. By joining the ranks of ACA Accreditation, CTeen Xtreme hopes to continue to provide meaningful and inspiring camp experiences for teens across the country.

CTeen Xtreme  was founded in 2013. Each summer, Jewish teens travel throughout Western USA visiting scenic attractions, experiencing thrilling activities, participating in volunteer projects, and enjoying Jewish learning. The camp offers two 2-week sessions beginning in Denver, CO and ending in Los Angeles, CA. One session is for boys and the second is for girls. The camp has grown exponentially in the three years of its existence, and to date has offered an incredible and exciting program to 250 teens from around the country. The   ACA Accreditation  is a big step for the camp, and the organization as a whole.

ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.  “ACA Accreditation means that CTeen Xtreme submitted to a thorough (u p to 300 standards ) review of its operation by the American Camp Association (ACA) — from staff qualifications and training to emergency management — and complied with the highest standards in the industry," said Cindy Moore, National Standards Commission. “CTeen Xtreme and ACA form a partnership that promotes summers of growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.” Moore said.

Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, vice chairman of CTeen shared: "Parents expect their children to attend accredited schools. When sending their children away on a travel program, they also deserve a camp experience that is reviewed and accredited by an expert, independent organization. ACA accreditation demonstrates our commitment to safe and quality camp programming."

CTeen Xtreme also recently joined the   Foundation for Jewish Camp, giving them the opportunity to offer more scholarships, funding, and programs for their teen campers. With the help of  One Happy Camper  a program funded by the Foundation for Jewish Camp, teens now have another option to help them fund their camp experience. The One Happy Camper grant is specifically for new campers, and offers up to $1,000 in funding per camper, regardless of financial income.

In addition to CTeen Xtreme, CTeen will be piloting a new summer program—The CTeen Heritage Quest. The trip will span over twenty two days; campers will spend six days in Poland, visiting several Concentration Camps—including Auschwitz— and sixteen days in Israel.

To kick off registration for summer 2016, CTeen is offering their  annual international NYC Shabbaton  free of charge to all teens who register for a summer program before November 30th 2015.
