VACAVILLE — Chabad of Solano County will offer the first Jewish summer program for children 4 and older in Vacaville starting July 25.

The summer program will emphasize Jewish experience and education combined with a wide range of activities and field trips, according to organizers.

The program “provides an experience that nurtures body and soul,” said Aidel Zaklos, Camp Gan Israel's director, in a press release.

“At Chabad, we feel that alongside the unique activities, spirited atmosphere and personalized attention that each child is offered, it is of importance to instill a genuine warmth and love for Jewish traditions,” Zaklos said.

The camp is the newest addition to a network of summer camps located around the world which was started by the Chabad in 1956.

One camp feature is a kosher hot lunch program which provides a balanced meal and eliminates the need to send a bagged lunch to camp. A detailed schedule of the camp is available online at http://wwwJewishSolano.com.

Registration for the camp closes Sunday for the session which runs from July 25 to July 30.

The rates are $225 children 4 to 11 for the Camp Gan Israel Junior Boys and Girls. It is $250 for children between 14 and 18 for the Camp Gan Israel Teen Adventure. Limited scholarships are available.
